s the weather cools down, it's the perfect opportunity for a home and decor refresh and the best place to start is where we spend a third of our lives - our bedrooms!

From incorporating cosy fabrics to layering with different textures, lifestyle and interiors creator Krystal Giardina (@houseofharvee) shares her simple tips to transform your bedroom into a stylish winter haven.

1. Embrace Soft and Insulating Fabrics

One of the easiest ways to stay warm this Winter is by investing in materials that are insulating. In terms of materials for pillows and throws, choose rich, heavy textiles like velvet, wool, faux fur and shearling which add warmth and texture.

2. Layer Your Bedding

A way to add tactility is by layering soft, inviting elements. Think flannel sheets layered with thick, plush blankets, and warm, knitted throws and pillows. There’s no better feeling than tucking in fresh sheets at the corners, which creates a cocoon-like effect that enhances warmth and comfort at night.

3. Switch up the Quilt and Cover

When it comes to your quilt, opt for a premium down or down-alternative which is designed to trap the heat in.  Down is not only lightweight but also provides incredible warmth and insulation, making it ideal for chilly nights.

To change the overall look and feel of a room, swapping in a fresh quilt cover design can make a big difference. Neutral colours offer brightness and maintain a sense of calm and solace.

4. Bring in Natural Elements

Winter decor doesn't have to be cold and dark. Bring in natural elements like flowers or light wooden accents such as oak or birch frames. Bedside tables or decorative trays can add warmth to the room. A large indoor plant like a Fiddle Lead Fig, an Olive Tree or a Dwarf Date Palm can inject life and colour into your space – bringing elements of the outdoors, inside.

5. Play with Scent and Lighting

Scent and lighting are great ways to add to the overall sensory experience of a room. Play with ambient lighting by incorporating bedside lamps with soft lighting or candles in sandalwood, amber and cedarwood scents.

Just like that, the bedroom is transformed into warm and cosy space you’ll never want to leave.
